Full Time Position Announcement

The Fremont Sanitation District (FSD) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Plant Maintenance Tech I in the Wastewater Treatment Department. Starting salary for this position is $21.82 per hour .

The Plant Maintenance Tech I is an entry-level position that works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreman to repair and maintain the buildings, grounds, plant equipment, and biosolids processing equipment at the wastewater treatment facility. Will periodically receive direction from Plant Operators. This position will work 10-hour days, 4 days a week on a quarterly rotating schedule. May be required to work during emergency situations.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One year of work experience
  • Valid Colorado driver license
  • Must obtain Colorado Class "B" Commercial Driver License (CDL) within one (1) year of employment
  • Certification for Confined Spaces must be obtained within (3) months of hire

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One year of work experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Valid Colorado driver license
  • Must obtain Colorado Class "B" Commercial Driver License (CDL) within one (1) year of employment
  • Certification for Confined Spaces must be obtained within (3) months of hire

Employment Requirements:

  • Upon offer of employment, will be subject to a pre-employment background check, including employment references, criminal history, and driving record review
  • CDL required positions shall be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol testing program that fulfills the requirements of Code of Federal Regulations Title 49, Part 382 for Commercial Driver's License holders upon offer of employment
  • Employee may be required to successfully pass (100%) a safety-related test conducted by the District within (3) months of employment
  • All employees of the District will be required to follow all rules and guidelines as outlined in the District's Personnel Manual and Safety Manual and programs
  • This is a safety-sensitive position which will be subject to the District's random drug/alcohol testing policy

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The listed duties are essential job functions that the position has been created to perform. The list of duties is not exhaustive, and the employee may be called upon to perform other duties and special assignments which may be outside of the primary areas of employment.

  • Works individually and as a member of a team to accomplish the needs of electrical, mechanical, solids processing, buildings and grounds, and other projects
  • Loads and unloads grit and rags to dumpsters
  • Works in conjunction with Plant Operators in the completion of maintenance and repair activities to assure optimized plant operations
  • Maintains tools and equipment associated with wastewater treatment
  • Performs grounds care using a self-propelled lawn mower, push mower, sidewalk edger, weed eater, or chain saw
  • Utilizes shovels and/or tractor for snow removal in areas around the plant facility
  • Performs painting and general cleaning
  • Operates centrifuges located at the facility
  • Operates backhoe, loader, and other equipment to clean/maintain drying bed site
  • Performs cleaning on assigned section of launder
  • Completes necessary reports
  • Identifies and informs others of potential problems pertaining to maintenance and repair of facilities
  • Uses computer to prepare reports and input data
  • May be required to help track, prepare, and maintain budget items
  • Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations, recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

WORKPLACE CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outdoor weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is exposed to strong noxious odors. Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work is performed in potentially hazardous environments including electrical, infectious, and mechanical hazards. Employee may be required to enter and exit confined spaces.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

The employee must have the abilities and skills to safely, efficiently, and productively operate the following items: Vehicle, sludge centrifuges, Brown Bear, dump truck, backhoe, loader, tractor, variety of hand and power tools, computer, testing equipment, pumps, motors, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment used in the treatment of wastewater.


WORK STATUS

This is a full-time position with a 40 hour per week schedule. Hours are normally 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, working one of the following three shift schedules:

  • Sunday-Wednesday
  • Tuesday-Friday
  • Wednesday-Saturday

May also be required to work during emergency situations. Scheduling may vary depending upon workload. May be required to work during emergency situations.
